The Tierra L. Dobry (TLD) Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization started by her family and close friends and dedicated to the mission of promoting dental hygiene and cultivating community relationships. Our efforts to date have focused on providing scholarship funding for deserving students pursuing an academic career in the field of dental hygiene, with proceeds driven from the Routes of Hope 5K run and 1 mile walk.
The TLD foundation is passionate about nurturing and strengthening relationships in our community. We strive to provide the resources and support to students in order to help them achieve their educational goals. We hope to not only transform their lives, but also through their growth and achievement the lives of all of those in the community that our scholarship recipients support.
We all go through journeys in life, and through these journeys many have lost loved ones. We know that it is their memories, passions and life's work that keeps them alive and with us today.
On December 23rd 2010 after many years of bravely fighting cancer our mother's journey changed. Through her memories, passions and life's work her journey now continues in new ways, and she remains with us.
Our mother had many amazing characteristics and, like our father, the roots of her successes began with education. Education was very important to her and through her education and work she was able to help others. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother she graduated from the first dental hygiene program at the Montgomery County Community College, later going on to work at the King of Prussia Dental Association for 25 years. Keeping her memories and her passion alive, we were able to develop The Tierra L. Dobry Foundation Routes of Hope 5k event.
The event kicked off in 2011 with tremendous success. The 2011 event enabled the foundation to provide a very deserving student in the Montgomery Country Community College Dental Hygiene program a partial scholarship. From the entire Dobry family we would like to thank the runners, walkers, donors, sponsors and volunteers who have worked so hard to make this mission a success. We are very grateful that this event can continue and we invite you out to run, walk, and donate to enable another deserving student the opportunity to continue their journey in completing their education.
This is a day of remembering and having fun. Keep in your heart all those loved ones not with us today.
Our mission goes beyond the provision of financial support, but rather is an engaged and integrated relationship that continues to grow and flourish through the "Routes of Hope" family. Compassion, care and service were central to the life of Tierra and we humbly carry forward her efforts to continue to inspire and help those in need.
Every year, the Foundation highlights the individuals who are the beneficiaries of the scholarship as their lives, stories and growth are the very focus of the TLD Foundation. They are welcomed into a family that will grow year after year. Collectively, these petals or "awardees" form the mosaic that together brightens up our community.
